There is a lot going on at the College of Design and one of best things related to architecture is the Triangle AIA/NCSU Joint Lecture Series. Noted architects are brought in to discuss and inspire by their work and philosophy.
The first lecture of the fall season was given by William Carpenter, FAIA. He founded Lightroom Studio in Decatur, GA. Much to my surprise, his talk was on “Architecture & Media”. He discussed how his firm’s revenue is spilt 50/50 between web design and architectural projects. This piqued my interest because I have long thought that web design has more to do with architecture than graphic design. His presentation inspired me to continue to pursue a multi-disciplinary approach to design and not put web design and user experience on the shelf as I study architecture.
